I grew up in Chicago, surrounded by strong, loving women, women who taught me courage, resilience, humor, and creativity simply by how they lived. But somewhere along the way, I absorbed a familiar message: that art wasn’t practical, and artists didn’t make money. So I did what many of us do. I went to college for marketing. I took a drawing class while I was there, one that quietly drained the joy out of creating and eventually, I put my pencil down. For a long time, art waited. 18 years to be exact. When Art Found Me Again When art finally came back to me, it wasn’t neat or polished, it arrived in a flood of emotion. When I picked up my pencil and made that first mark, it came with tears.
